Transforming Lives on the Open Road

About Bill

Bill Blackmon is living proof that God can take a life once marked by brokenness and turn it into a testimony of grace, purpose, and transformation.

At the age of 15, Bill left his Louisiana home in search of freedom.  Months later, he found himself homeless on the streets of San Francisco. After realizing this was not the life for him, he returned home and married his childhood sweetheart, Marla, and together they began raising a family.  This journey eventually led him into the trucking industry and a lifestyle far from God. Though life appeared good on the outside, the pressures of the road, along with struggles with alcohol and drugs, took their toll.

On May 9, 1993, at nearly 27 years old, Bill encountered Jesus Christ in a life-changing way. That moment became the turning point of his life. God radically transformed his heart, restored his direction, and gave him a new purpose.

Thinking back, Bill recognizes a key moment that helped shape his heart for ministry. As a young Christian driving over the road, he found himself stranded at a truck stop in Franklin, Tennessee for the weekend, unsure how to pass the time. A chaplain reached out to him and invited him to a fellowship meeting. That simple act of kindness went far beyond a sense of duty and left a lasting impression on Bill’s life. He has never forgotten that day. It was in that moment that a spark was ignited in his heart—a desire to one day walk alongside other drivers and help them through their own struggles.

A few years later, Bill surrendered to the call to ministry. Over the next two decades, he pastored several churches while also owning and operating his own trucking company, One Way Trucking, LLC. Through it all, his heart remained deeply burdened for truck drivers and their families—men and women who often live and work in isolation, facing spiritual, emotional, and physical challenges on the road.

Bill and Marla shared nearly 34 years of marriage before the Lord called her home. God later blessed Bill with a second wife, Nancy, who shares his passion for ministry and outreach. Together, they committed their lives to serving Christ full-time to preach the Gospel, encourage drivers, and support chapels, churches, and outreach events wherever God opens the door.

Currently, Bill is serving as pastor of First Baptist Church of Florien, Louisiana, as well as being President of Transformers Outreach Ministries. Bill’s mission is simple but powerful: to bring hope, faith, and the transforming message of Jesus Christ to truck drivers, their families, and the
communities they serve.

Bill’s life stands as a testimony that no road is too long, no past too broken, and no heart too far for the redeeming power of God’s grace.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
— Romans 12:2 (KJV)
